1929-1946
The founder of Ferrari, Enzo Ferrari, never thought of producing street cars when the Scuderia formed Ferrari in 1929 to sponsor pilots fond of Modena. Ferrari trained several pilots and it competed with success with cars Alpha Romeo up to 1938, when it was officially hired by Alpha like boss of its department of careers.
In 1940, after finding out the plans of the company to absorb their dear Scuderia and to take control of their work in the competition, he/she abandoned Alpha. Since he/she had forbidden contractual to compete during several years, the Scuderia became Car shortly I Prepare Costruzioni Ferrari that seemingly manufactured machinery and accessories for airplanes. Ferrari in fact produced a car of careers, the Type 815, in this period in the one that could not compete, and it was the first real car of Ferrari in fact, but due to the Second World War he/she ran very little. In 1943 the factory Ferrari moved to Maranello, where it has remained from then on. It was bombarded in 1944 and reconstructed in 1946 to be able to produce street cars.
The first car of street of Ferrari the 125 S 1947, moved by a motor V12 of 1,5 liters. Although it was reluctant to it, Enzo built and he/she sold its automobiles to finance the Scuderia. While their beautiful and incredibly quick cars were won a reputation quickly thanks to their quality, Enzo maintained a famous aversion to their clients, because it felt that most of they were buying their cars for the prestige and not for their benefits.
The street cars Ferrari, notables for their exquisite style elaborated by such design houses as Pininfarina, are for enough time the definitive complement for the youths (although they are of heart) and rich. Along the years other design houses that you/they have worked for Ferrari are Scaglietti, Bertone and Vignale.
The cars Ferrari presents small motors V8 and highly prepared V12, frequently in a central configuration. Until the introduction of the injection a years 1980, they were quite temperamental.
The true passion of Enzo Ferrari, in spite of its extensive career with street cars, was always the automobile competition. Their Scuderia began as independent patron for pilots in diverse cars, but soon he/she became the team of the house of Alpha Romeo. Enzo Ferrari, after its march of Alpha, began to design and to manufacture its own cars; the team Ferrari appeared for the first time in a Great European Prize after having finished the Second World War.
The Scuderia participated in the Championship of the World of Formula 1 in its first year of existence, 1950. The Argentinean José-Froilán González gave to the team his first victory in the British Grand Prix 1951. The Italian Alberto Ascari offered Ferrari its first world World Championship one year later. Ferrari is the oldest team in the championship, without mentioning the honored: up to 2004, the team has won a record of 14 world securities for pilots (1952, 1953, 1956, 1958, 1961, 1964, 1975, 1977, 1979, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004), a record of 14 Championships of the World for Manufacturers (1961, 1964, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004), a mark of 183 victories Grand Prix, 4348.27 points, 562 podiums, 179 pole positions, 11457 turns in head and 184 quick turns in 723 Big contested Prizes.

The famous symbol of Ferrari is a black horse upset on yellow bottom, usually with the letters S F of Scuderia Ferrari.
Originally the horse was the count's symbol Francesco Baracca, a legendary "asso" (ace) of the Italian air forces during the First World War who painted it in the lateral of his airplanes. Baracca died very young June 19 1918, when being demolished after 34 bereavements victorious and many victories of its team, and soon he/she became a national hero.
Baracca had wanted that the upset horse is in his airplanes because his squadron, the "Battaglione Aviatori", it was signed up in a chivalry regiment (the air forces were in their first years of life and they didn't have administrative independence), and also because him same he had fame of being the best cavaliere in his team.
It has been supposed that the election of a horse was maybe partly to the fact that its nobiliary family was known to have many horses in its properties in Lugo I gave Romagna. Another non proven theory suggests that Baracca copied the design of the horse upset a German pilot that took the shield of the city of Stuttgart in its airplane. Surprisingly, the maker of German cars Porsche, of Stuttgart, took borrowed its logo of the upset horse of the shield of the city.
Ferrari competed in its last one and at the present time with marks (in some superior cases and in other no): Porsche, Lamborghini, Masserati, of tomaso and many other grateful marks of sport files.
June of 1923 Enzo 17 Ferrari won a career in the circuit Savio of Ravena, and there he/she knew the countess Paolina, mother of Baracca. The countess asked him that I/you/he/she used the horse in her cars, suggesting that she would bring him good luck, but the first career in which Alpha allowed him to use the horse in the cars of the Scuderia it was later eleven years, in the 24 Hours of Spa in 1932. Ferrari won.
Ferrari conserved the such black horse and like it had been in the airplane of Baracca, but however he/she added a yellow bottom because it was the representative color of its birthplace, Modena.
The horse upset has not always identified only to the mark Ferrari: Fabio Taglioni used it in its motorcycles Ducati. The father of Taglioni was one of the partners of Baracca in fact and it fought next to him in the 91ª Air Squad, but when the fame of Ferrari grew, Ducati abandoned the horse. This could have been the result of a private agreement among the two marks.
The upset horse is today a trademark of Ferrari.
